Day: 072

Took it easy this morning. Made some coffee, bacon and pancakes for breakfast. Then uploaded a few journals along with some other miscellaneous things.

Both Kill Bill and I headed back to trail around 11 with a 17 mile day in the works. It was raining when we got into the Uber and continued for a bit while I hiked. The tree canopy shields me from most of it as it was pretty light rain. There were not any clear views early on but because the trees are losing leaves I can see pretty clearly off the ridge.

I just snacked while I hiked today. I had a bunch of chips and salsa before I left this morning and feel stuffed. I passed by a sign labeled Wilson Gap. A FarOut comment said it used to be a road that took people to resort area prior to the depression.

Shortly after I entered the Rollercoaster! A 14 mile stretch of PUDS (pointless up and downs). For reference I inserted a photo of the FarOut elevation map of the “rollercoaster”.

Even though they are PUDS I had two really good views from Raven Rocks and Bears Den Rocks.

I got to Sam Moore Shelter around 5:30 and pitched my tent. It’s going to get down into the high 30’s tonight! I headed over to the covered picnic table for dinner and Kill Bill joined me. I had some leftover bacon from breakfast for dinner. It was yummy!

Saw your folk at the lake today. Sad time starting to close up the lake house for another year.
hope your doing well. I heard your sister is joining you for a couple days. What fun.
